Wright Balance Golf Tip ImageGoodbye Miss Ellie!

"There was a mouse here yesterday!"
   Story below.

Wright Balance Golf Tip ImageGRIP

This month's golf tip shows the relationship of your left hand grip and balance. Former US Open Champion, Sandra Palmer is the model in this tip.

Wright Balance Golf Tip ImageLast month I showed you the parallel lines created at address by the hips and shoulders with illustrations of me, Bob E Smith and Kevin Stadler. (If you click on the photos, they will enlarge.)

Wright Balance Golf Tip ImageNotice the centering of weight shown in this photo when you are in balance with your hips and shoulders parallel to each other. (Image on left)

In this photo of Sandra, notice that her hips and shoulders are parallel to each other. (Right image)

Notice that Sandra's clubface is aimed down the target line. (Left image)

Wright Balance Golf Tip ImageThe next photo shows Sandra's left hand grip on the club. This might appear too much on top to some of you but it is not. It is how Sandra's left hand hangs at her side when she is in balance. Wright Balance Golf Tip ImageWe are all different. There is no textbook left and right hand grip that fits all of us. (Right image)

In the following photo, Sandra moves her left hand grip counterclockwise toward the target. This is called a "weaker" left hand. (Left picture)Wright Balance Golf Tip Image

Notice how Sandra's shoulders rotate left (open) while her hips remain parallel to the target line. (Right image)

As Sandra's shoulders open, her clubface aims left.

Wright Balance Golf Tip ImageWhen your shoulders cross your hips in front, one of two balance positions result. Your weight loads left, either in the ball of the left foot or in the left heel.

Visualize the club path these two balance positions would create, putter through driver.Wright Balance Golf Tip Image

I will continue next month with the set up variables of balance.

Goodbye Miss Ellie, We Miss You!

Miss Ellie was with us from October, 2005 through March 3, 2006. She was a regular at the back of the range. She entertained us every day whether it was looking for mice under the hitting mats or just being Miss Ellie.

Wright Balance Golf Tip ImageMiss Ellie returned with her owner, Sandra Palmer for the Spring and Summer to Sahalee Country Club in Seattle.

Miss Ellie, Bobby, Perry and I would like to personally invite you to return for the fall and winter of 2006 -2007 at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club. By the way, if you want to bring Sandra with you, she is welcome as your guest. We Miss you Miss Ellie!!
