Set Up
Let’s begin with the physical routine. The golf swing is made up of lines angles and neutral positions. You can do drills at home to be certain these lines angles and neutral positions are the same on every set up. Your PGA or LPGA instructor will help you see and feel a correct set up. Be certain that you are balanced, your hands hang under your shoulders as you grip the club, and that your neck, upper and lower spine angles are all in one line. Work first on getting into the same set up over and over again in front of a mirror. Use the same strategy every time. Be certain to assume your grip and to look left toward a target each time you set up to the ball. Practice with a driver, 5 iron and a wedge. Learning is most efficient when you focus on the images and feelings of your set up in short practice periods. Always use a ball making sure your ball position is consistent with each set up. After practicing your set up in front of a mirror over numerous successive days, it will become automatic.
